Although the book is relatively easy to read, it is intended for readers 12 years and up. Korman has also written a sequel titled Son of the Mob 2 Hollywood Hustle. The story revolves around Vince Luca, a teenage boy of seventeen who lives in a family of mobsters. His father, Anthony Luca is the boss of Brothers Vending Machine Inc., a cover-up for the most notorious Mafia in the Tri-state area. People call him Honest Abe Luca, because he is straight with his dealings and he never rips anyone off. Tommy (Vinces older brother), however, is the exact opposite. He is portrayed as a hot-head with a temper (Possibly based on Sonny Corleone). Vince, although from a family of mobsters, has never intended to pursue his familys line of work, but it becomes inevitable that the business will play an immense role in his life.
