The term Hyper distribution or Hyperdistribution is used to describe the distribution of content (Particularly Video) over the internet using technologies such as BitTorrent. A speech given by Mark Pesce of "Piracy Is Good?", delivered on May 6th, 2005 at the Australian Film Television and Radio School in Sydney describes what Hyper distribution is. BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol used for distributing large amounts of data. BitTorrent is one of the most common protocols for transferring large files, and it has been estimated that it accounts for roughly 27-55% of all Internet traffic (depending on geographical location) as of February 2009.
