Injection Magmatism in the Upper Mantle. Application of ATCN - Geothermobarometr

Original clinopyroxene ATCN-geothermobarometer has been introduced. It is designed with published and original experimental data for a wide range of melt compositions (from picrites to basalts and leucitites) at pressures of 10-25 kbar. Principles and restrictions of its application are considered. Testing of the ATCN has been done for megacrysts of aluminous clinopyroxenes from alkaline basaltoids of Baikal rift zone, the Minusa depression, the Eastern Sikhote-Alin; injection veins in composite mantle xenoliths of the Minusa depression, Baikal rift zone, Victoria province (Australia) and other regions of the world; vein bodies of peridotite massifs in ophiolite sections of the Western Europe. The ATCN-geothermobarometer permits to characterize various injection magmatic processes in the mantle at pressures from 10 to 20 kbar. For specialists in petrology of the upper mantle.
